Being a Bharat Soka Gakkai member it was a pleasant surprise to visit this museum. Most unusual musical set I have ever seen. It demands a visit whenever you visit Tokyo.
Always delighted to return to Min-on Music Museum, as it hosts many fine performances with singers or bands all around the globe.
Museum itself is a delight for those passionate about the music.
Lovingly organized and displayed collection of musical artifacts from all over the world. Diversity, consistency, and continuity between cultures and time periods are highlighted. Humanity at it's best. Don't miss the demonstrations of music boxes and of pianos being played. This place is stunning!
The antique music boxes are amazing! They play all the music boxes for the visitors every hour or so. They also showcase different period keyboards and they hold a very short piano concert after the music box performance.
Amazing collection of historic pianos with a chance to hear the difference when they are played. Interactive exhibits with musical instruments from around the world. A large collection of wind-up music boxes that are played by the staff. Exhibits that change regularly so it is fun to drop in periodically. And it's Free!
Fun museum with concerts every hour featuring a wide selection of pianos and automatic music machines. English translations available on plaques and via qr code. Interesting collection of ethnic and folk instruments. Would recommend for a casual musuem visit if you are near the station or interested in old or unique musical instruments.
Found this on a tourist brochure and went there on JR from Shinjuku to Shinanomachi station in a few minutes. Entry is free. The collection is exceptional from 16th century harpsicords through to a 1952 Steinway concert grand. Staff play all of these instruments throughout the day.
They also have a great collection of mechanical instruments from music boxes to player pianos of the 1920's. All of these are demonstrated by the staff.
Lots of other displays to look at. Unfortunately you can't take photos.
We highly recommend this living museum to spend a few hours.
Found this place accidentally. Listened to a wonderful old piano demonstration concert. Their collection of grand pianos and world instruments is exquisite!
Well worth the visit for musicians and music lovers
